YES.
They keep saying this even as he moves further and further to the right. The sheer contradiction is mindblowing.
I’m kind of scared of the Tea Party, to be completely honest. Actually, “completely fucking terrified” is more appropriate.
It’s easy to latch on to an “evil” concept, especially when you have no idea what it is.
Socialism is not the problem.
Ignorance is the problem.
Would you two be as so kind as to describe socialism to me? I think I’ve got a good idea of what it means but I really don’t trust much of what my social studies teacher tells me.
The Wiki article is actually pretty good: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialism
It’s pretty comprehensive, and goes over the different types of it and stuff. They try to keep a neutral point of view, so they consider USSR-style stuff “socialist,” although many socialists would disagree with that. Socialism, in my opinion, has workplace democracy at its very core. Without that, I wouldn’t consider something socialist.
Best soicalism model was in Yugoslavia, slightly modified, you can check some of it in his article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialist_Federal_Republic_of_Yugoslavia but if you’re really interested just get some good books from the library and read a bit about it.
